Peoria Heights Village Hall
Architect: Richard L. Doyle
The united spirit of a community shines in the story of the Peoria Heights Village Hall, designed by Richard L. Doyle. The iconic modified A-frame style hall with a large glass front and adjacent stone walls remains a fixture in the Heights today.
During construction, local volunteers washed and transported three hundred tons of stone that had been donated by the Forest Park Foundation.
Bill Rutherford’s Forest Park Foundation and The Pabst Brewing Company also donated funds to support the project so the building could be constructed debt-free.
"We would not have gotten the type of building we have without the efforts of people who helped move that stone; it gave the building that excellent architectural appearance," stated Architect Richard Doyle in the Illinois Municipal Review in 1975.
Village Hall was completed in December 1974 and Grand Opening ceremonies were held in May 1975. It continues to serve the community in its original purpose by providing meeting and office space for the local community and government.
